What wonderful freedom when we finally come to the place we realise that we are no longer under subjugation and subjection to the Law. What liberty when we are no longer suggestible nor “bewitched-able” to borrow a phrase from the Apostle Paul [Gal. 3:1]. What freedom when we know that He has dealt with the issue of the forgiveness of his sins and has come into the fullness of understanding that the nature of sin has been eradicated from him.
As we continue to reflect on the need for a new kind of elder, we stay with the seminal psalm twenty-three. The opening statement speaks volumes: The Lord is my Shepherd. Sheep need a shepherd and I believe that people need leadership; Leadership matters. But if leadership matters the way we lead matters even more.
You don’t have to be a believer to know be able to recite the words of the much loved twenty-third psalm, but if you’re in any kind of spiritual leadership you do need to be a Seer to understand what those precious words mean. When Hayley and I started the Grace Project, ten years ago next month (17th September 2000) we did so having received the simplest of instructions from the Lord: “Go and grow good grass and I’ll bring the sheep.” .jpg)
