What is spiritual community to me? - 2006/10/03 23:57 It is an interesting question and something that has made think long and hard. Even now I don't think I completly get it

A community is when all everyone is relating to everyone. People are constantly going out, having fun, simply sharing life with one another. What makes it a spiritual community? I am not sure. Has can anyone help?

Re:What is spiritual community to me? - 2006/10/07 21:18 when is it a spiritual community? when the presences of Jesus is at the 'centre'; How do we know when Jesus is at the centre? it has to be experienced; it is an organic experience - one which cannot be controlled and one which allows room for mistakes.

It is the walking out in mystery and living the paradox. Jesus will be in control when we are worshipping he has to. I suppose this is when we know we are worshipping and BEING the worship.

In what context? i hear the voice of legalism say? AS US! eating toast and marmalade together with pots of tea ( earl grey is particularly nice) cleaning the house, doing the laundry and other essential life things we encounter everyday. hooray. He is amongst us as us.
Man is designed to become truly human

This is what walking in Grace is about- we are meant to be humans not some kind of contrused idea of what a good person ought to be- thank God He's sorted this out. The rest is in the walk

Re:What is spiritual community to me? - 2006/10/19 19:40 Spiritual community as I am now starting to comprehend is more that just a sunday gathering of believers, or a healthy family environment, it is allusive to superficially comments, conversations and religion, it cannot be engineered by a G12 model or a home group structure!

I think spiritual community is best pictured in 1 Cor 12 where we find that we are many members of the body, of the One Person, Jesus! It is divine togetherness, oneness. It is the sharing of divine life (Koinonia) between believers.

Where sin, fear, condemnation, works, and self-achievement are left far behind, where believers can be naked and not ashamed. It is found beyond the finished work of Christ; it’s found when believers start living together in the resurrected life of the One Person, “LOVE”..!

Re:What is spiritual community to me? - 2006/11/01 05:50 I totally agree with the posts before this one. I see this spirtual community of sons and daughters as coming together in unity (with Jesus being the head) before our loving Father in desperation, confidence and love. As we lay ourselves before God we arent looking around judging our brothers and sisters, but bearing with and loving each other. We have a human nature the tells us to inflict unreachable standards upon each other, which in spiritual community we must abandon!! We approach God and each other as we are, vulnerable and seeking to know God!! It is where we cant keep quiet about our love for God and each other, which can simply be done in the way we live. Let us bear with each other in sin, and look at Jesus in each other. So yea, I am learning this daily!! I fall daily, but the beauty is that Christ is the head of this all, the same one that died on behalf of us!!

Re:What is spiritual community to me? - 2007/01/25 17:27 It seems to me that this community can only be found in Heaven. Oh I'd do just about anything to have it here but it seems like a very HARD thing to produce. First of all we all have to put echothers needs before our own. Is this possibe? Everything in me screams yes but only seen with my eye of faith. I just need to know how to bring it to this world. We only have to look as far as Iraq to see just how hard this would be. All you need to do is watch one episode of "Wounded Warrior" or "Combat Hospital" on CNN to see just a glimps of what we have to work with. But I'm up for it if you are...... Are we up for it? Enjoy your day...and always view others you see through Jesus specs!
