Many scripture refs about our tongues. - 2007/01/24 12:04
I think we can for sure be bound by the rule to only speak the Word of God over all our circumstances. Being afraid that if we do not watch every word we will be asking for trouble. Fogetting about the GRACE of God. I do believe what comes out of our moths is important. If you just take proverbs you will see many references to how we use our tongues grately influences those around us and our circumstances. From my own life I can attest to confession becoming a huge bondage. Yet another preformance based ritual. I do think that the more we learn about the freedom of God's grace our speech tends to follow. So it no longer becomes a job but just a natural flow of sorts that brings liberty on the scene. Though being human we do screw up and blurt anti-Word of God things out our mouths every once in awhile the Grace and Mercy of God is there for us to fall back on. Thank GOD for it. I was trying to work the Word instead of letting the Word work in me. So yes we can be obsessed with it. I try to conciously be careful of what i say. I ask the Holy Spirit to guard my words and my tongue and speak through me at all times. It is more His job than mine anyways and this is how I like it. It takes the pressure off me. Just my thoughts on confession.
