It is extraordinary how things and events about which we are unawares hold us prisoner. In my case something happened to me when I was 45 days old that would take me forty-five years to escape from; this book in a very real sense documents that journey into freedom. If this book gives you half as much pleasure to read as it caused me pain to write then I will be thrilled.
The Apprentice describes the teenage phase of the Christian life and it proved a good vehicle in which to discuss my own personal identity crisis, a darkness that the Lord drew me into in order to show me the light of the gospel of grace. It is the story of a confused young boy coming to adulthood; a young boy who was pre-programmed to fail but destined by God to not only succeed but to tell his story of how all men can come to know true freedom in Christ.
