This series is dedicated to transforming your perspective on life's inevitable trials, tests and adversities. In the introduction (please click here to read it), we established that such adversities were a fact of life but we have God's assurance that everything we face will workout eventually for our own benefit. More to the point God delights in turning the table on the devil and having the last laugh.
To verify this, we have been going through the bible to highlight examples of God's people who have come through negative circumstances and in hindsight turned out to be better off (Click here to read part 4). The bible assures us that "...God treats all people alike."(Acts 10:34 CEV) and since "Jesus Christ never changes! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8 CEV), it is my prayer that you will take comfort from their experiences and expect the same kind of results. Maybe you might even laugh with Him in anticipation of the expected end.
Enjoy

In this installment we look at Jehoshaphat, who was one of the few God fearing kings of Israel. Amidst relative peace, he received news of an impending attack by a cohort of three allied nations. There was no denying that he was outnumbered, his helplessness drove him to seek God for direction. What God told him to do next was nothing short of extraordinary. He was to go into battle fronted by praises with a promise that they would not have to fight, as the Lord said through his prophets, "the battle is the Lord, not yours". I do wonder how much faith it took Jehoshaphat to obey. True to His word, God caused the enemy to self-destruct and waiting for Jehoshaphat, was spoil that took them three days to collect. Not a bad payday for a battle you did not fight.

The Doctor’s Casebook
A New Reformation?
dr. peter rowe Ph.D., D.R.Phil., M.Th., B.Min.
It is such a joy to be working alongside Paul Anderson Walsh… at last! I look forward to getting to know you better and hopefully contributing something worthwhile towards a greater understanding of the whole counsel of God viewed through the eyes of Grace; God’s wonderful agape love.
First, let me say that I have, and always will, more questions than answers. Twenty-five years ago I knew almost everything, but now at 60 I know hardly anything at all; hence all the questions!
Years of service in Pentecostal churches has brought me to a place where I need to question where the movement is now and where it is going. I see things that need to be challenged. I believe the Pentecostal/Evangelical church is far from healthy and needs to re-evaluate everything from doctrine to methodologies to leadership structures.

This time we look at Moses, who was born to a Hebrew mother at a time when they were being treated as slaves in Egypt. In a bid to suppress the population explosion of the Israelites, the Pharaoh commanded that every Hebrew newborn boy be tossed into the Nile. Moses's mother, inspired by God, hatched a cunning plan that resulted in her being paid by Pharaoh's daughter to raise her own son in the ways of the Jews, while having access to the best that Egypt had to offer as an adopted prince. Moses was used of God to set His people free from the tyranny of Pharaoh, but not before Egypt endured ten plagues and the death of their entire first born sons. God then setup a final showdown at the Dead Sea. The best of the Egyptian army led by the Pharaoh himself thought that they had all of Israel caught between them and the sea only for God to close in the waters over them. The very sea that was the route to safety for the Jews was the final resting place of Pharaoh and his army.

Here we look at the king of Moab called Balak, who was clearly unsettled by the presence of the Israelites so close to his kingdom, having heard of some of their recent conquests. Full of a sense of foreboding danger to his domain, he sought the services of Balaam, the renowned prophet of the day to curse the Jews as a means of giving him an upper hand in battle. There was only one problem; God had already bestowed His irrevocable blessings on the children of Israel. Balak; not deterred by this apparent hitch, relentlessly badgered Balaam, tempting Him with all manner of gifts. Eventually God permitted Balaam to go (not before his life was saved by a talking donkey) and ultimately Balak provided the Israelites with three expense paid affirmations of God's blessings.
