God revealed to Jacob that He had a destiny for Joseph that would see him in a position of authority[Genesis 37:5-11]. Jacob was presented with contrary circumstantial evidence and he chose to believe the worst. This became his truth and formed the basis of his reality. He mourned the (living)dead[Genesis 37:25-35]. he experienced years of needless misery based on a lie[Genesis 37:36; 46:29-30].
The power of faith => Words, observations, symptoms, circumstances may create perceptions which may be contrary to God's will for us, if we believe them to be true, we experience it's consequences regardless of the actual truth. In other words, whatever you believe to be true, will become your reality. Jacob entered into a reality that had no bearing on the actual(Absolute) truth. He experienced misery based on a lie. This is the power of faith. It creates a reality that is consistent with your perception of truth. Faith is always working; you are constantly in situations where you have to choose what to believe. The real question is, what are you accepting as truth and what reality, is it creating for you?
Absolute truth => God's word is the absolute truth[John 17:17; 14:6], it is settled forever[Psalm 119:89], never to change[Malachi 3:6] and is impartial to all[Acts 10:34]. It is a more sure word of prophecy[2 Peter 1:19-21]. It leads to freedom[John 8:31-32] and produces God's kind of life & peace[Romans 8:5-6]. God backs His word to the uttermost. It is impossible for God to lie[Titus 1:2], just as the devil cannot tell the truth[John 8:44-45]. God's word created and upholds all of creation[Hebrews 1:2-3; 11:3] and therefore if any part of His word were to fail, all of creation would fall apart. God's name would be devalued and His holiness corrupted[Psalm 138:2]. Everything in creation relies on the integrity of His word[Matthew 24:35]. God has an excellent track record[Psalm 37:25] and that is not about to change[Hebrew 13:8].
The final word => Very often we accept our current reality as truth, based on circumstances, even when they are not consistent with God's word. If we consider Jacob's story, we see that experience itself, is no indication of truth. Any experience that is not consistent with the truth of Gods word must be regarded as a lie[Romans 3:4]. We must replace our current truth with that of God's word and by faith enter into its experience[2 Corinthians 10:4-5]. We must esteem God's eternal truth above any temporal circumstance[2 Corinthians 4:17-18]. His word created all things and therefore all things are subject to and can be changed by it[Luke 1:27-37].
This is the key to breaking free from our current contrary experiences and entering into the God kind of life[John 10:10], rejecting the devils lies, no matter how much circumstantial evidence He brings to bear on us[Habakkuk 3:17-19]. Experiencing abundant life is not automatic, our faith is required to experience it[Hebrew 4:1-3]. Accept nothing less than God's word as your truth, your choice is the door to your experience[2 Corinthians 5:7]. His is the final word. If you stand fast, you will experience God's best[Hebrew 6: 11-20]. Faith is not the denial of your current reality any more than the law of lift is a denial of the law gravity. Faith takes you into a higher reality that God has created just for you.
God has given you the power of choice, don't surrender it cheaply. Chose His truth above any contrary evidence and experience His abundant provision of life.
