Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone rob you through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And you are complete in Him, who is the Head of all principality and power...Therefore let no one judge you in food or in drink, or in respect of a feast, or of the new moon, or of the sabbaths. For these are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ. (Colossians 2:6-17 MKJV)
"For the Law which has a shadow of good things to come, not the very image of the things, appearing year by year with the same sacrifices, which they offer continually, they are never able to perfect those drawing near." (Hebrews 10:1 MKJV) A shadow is an indication of the imminent arrival of the real person, that it represents. When that person appears, the shadow becomes irrelevant. A shadow reflects the actions of whom it represents, but is of no effect, in and of itself. The law was a shadow of Christ. Having entered into union with Christ, religion re-introduced me to His shadow. It is no surprise that I was not fulfilled, ever tried dancing with a shadow?
