God has always been about love. It is His essence.
"..love comes from God..because God is love.." (1 John 4:7-8 MSG)
Love was always the paramount essence of all the law
1. "..Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength." This is the first commandment. And the second is like this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these...(it) is more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices...You are not far from the kingdom of God.." (Mark 12:28-34 MKJV)
2. "Master, which is the great commandment in the Law? Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 22:36-40 MKJV)
Love inspired the new covenant
1. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16 MKJV)
2. "..the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us. For we yet being without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will with difficulty die for a righteous one, yet perhaps one would even dare to die for a good one. But God commends His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the reconciliation." (Romans 5:5-11 MKJV)
The new covenant commandment is love
1. "I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. As I have loved you, you should also love one another. By this all shall know that you are My disciples, if you have love toward one another." (John 13:34-35 MKJV)
2. "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:12-13 MKJV)
The law could not produce God's love, it only comes from God by His spirit.
1. "..For if a law had been given which could have given life, indeed righteousness would have been out of Law." (Galatians 3:21 MKJV)
2."..Walk in the Spirit..the fruit of the Spirit is: love.." (Galatians 5:16-22 MKJV)
3. "..the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us." (Romans 5:5 MKJV)
When we love in the power of the spirit, it is God, loving others through us. We transcend every law by walking in His love, which is what the law was trying to articulate, but lacked the power to enable us live it.
1. "..by love serve one another. For all the Law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." .. I say, then, Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. And these are contrary to one another; lest whatever you may will, these things you do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law..the fruit of the Spirit is: love..against such things there is no law." (Galatians 5:13-23 MKJV)
2. "But the end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, and a good conscience, and faith unfeigned..But we know that the law is good if a man uses it lawfully, knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous one, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and anything else that is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust."
(1 Timothy 1:5-11 MKJV)
We must therefore conclude that living the law, is going backwards from living in love, by the spirit. The law was not made for us, as we are "..the righteousness of God in Him." (2 Corinthians 5:21 MKJV). God is love, He does not change(Malachi 3:6), so it will always be about love. Know and Believe the love(1 John 4:16), then live the love(Galatians 2:20).
