"Christ's life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20 MSG)

================&&&&&====================

"Have they gone?"

"Can I take it off now?"

It weighs a tonne, this mask that I wear

It's the only way I know, to hide what I see

Just so I don't have to face me

================&&&&&====================

I had visions of perfection, doing all things right

I shouldn't let the side down

Mustn't give a bad impression of the team

Everyone else, seems to be doing better than me

At least so it seems

It is hard to tell who is wearing one like me

================&&&&&====================

I could not afford to be me, a price to high to pay

All those tongues wagging and the disapproving looks

From those who had this whole thing, down to a "T"

It was clear to all concerned, that I hadn't done enough

More prayer, more fasting, more works to perform

Would surely soon put me right

================&&&&&====================

Disappointment lingers on inside

I'm not who they want me to be

So I sport this false accessory

At least I fit in, as longs as I'm not alone with me

The Word tells me, I possess perfection

But to manifest it, I cannot fathom

================&&&&&====================

In desperation, I ran to the new contract

To read between the lines

Like shafts of light, the truth flooded my soul

Showed me the error of my thoughts

The shame inside had come from

Seeking the living amongst the dead

================&&&&&====================

My actions showed, me who I was

A memory of who I used to be

The Word showed me who I am

A reflection of Christ in me

================&&&&&====================

The face I tried to hide, was that of Christ

The one at work in me

Now my hands are free

To hold up the mirror of His Word

For others to see Him too

================&&&&&====================

The more I look, the more I see

Till I know who I really am

Then and only then can my actions fall in line

With the reality at large within

================&&&&&====================

A human being, not a human doing

Hence I know, I am, so I do

O what Liberty, I have

From the truth that has set me free

Free to be Me!!

================&&&&&====================
