"..They don't seem to realize that this comprehensive setting-things-right that is salvation is God's business, and a most flourishing business it is. Right across the street they set up their own salvation shops and noisily hawk their wares. After all these years of refusing to really deal with God on his terms, insisting instead on making their own deals, they have nothing to show for it. The earlier revelation was intended simply to get us ready for the Messiah, who then puts everything right for those who trust him to do it." (Romans 10:1-4 MSG)

We've got it all worked out

Our bargaining currency is in place

We've set a value, for every Christian work

Prayer, devotion, fasting, church attendance and so on

All these to be used in exchange

For receiving our next request

We create the rules and invite Him to play

A game of Christian monopoly

================&&&&&====================

The greater the need, the more the works

It will cost you, to move the hand of God

Great skill is required, to put the deals together

There are times when prayer alone, won't do

Fasting will "up the ante", to create the tipping point

An offer, that even God, can't resist

We create the rules and invite Him to play

A game of Christian monopoly

================&&&&&====================

If you happen to put a foot wrong

And get a "Go to jail" card

It must be time to play, the "Penance" hand

You wail and travail, writhing in condemnation

Until you feel you've earned, the "Get out of jail" card

We create the rules and invite Him to play

A game of Christian monopoly

================&&&&&====================

You may have passed "Go"

But you need to be on your toes

To keep an account, full of good works

It may come in handy, when disaster strikes

Never forget, the Christian Joneses

Can't afford, for them to overtake

There is a God, to be impressed

We create the rules and invite Him to play

A game of Christian monopoly

================&&&&&====================

Jesus has already played a perfect round

Paid the price to buy everything on ground

And handed it to you, instead

He obtained the ultimate, "Get out of jail" card

So you would never have to go there

Jesus pleased the father, in every way

And put you, right in His place

When He finished, you finished

Game over, no more to play

Jesus gave all His spoil to you

Now you no longer have to play

The game of Christian Monopoly
