"For we who have believed do enter into the rest.. although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For He spoke in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested the seventh day from all His works." ..there remains a rest to the people of God. For he who has entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from His." (Hebrews 4:3-10 MKJV)
"First this: God created the Heavens and Earth--all you see, all you don't see. Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God's Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss. God spoke: "Light!" And light appeared. (Genesis 1:1-3 MSG) God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth." God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God's nature. He created them male and female. God blessed them: "Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth." (Genesis 1:26-28 MSG)
Putting God to work => Why did God interrupt the nothingness of the earth, to bring order and create a habitat with all the required support system for human existence? The answers lie in Genesis 1:26-2:8. It is clear that this new creation, made in the image and likeness of God, was the motivation for all the preceding creative activity(Psalm 8:4-9). God created man in His class for fellowship and took the trouble to ensure that all His needs were met (1 Peter 5:6-7). All God made was self-sustaining and all man had to do was ""Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible.."
How to create a universe in 6 days => God created all things by His word(Hebrew 11:3). When God releases His word, in it, is the authority to fulfill itself(Isaiah 55:10-11) and sustain that which it fulfils(Hebrew 1:3). God invested in creation, the means of reproduction so that everything had the seed by which it may reproduce itself and therefore fill the earth(a feature demonstrated by Noah's story (Genesis 6:13-22)). God was finished in six days, but His Word continues to work and His creation continues to reproduce.
1. "..God said, Let the earth bring forth tender sprouts (the herb seeding seed and the fruit tree producing fruit after its kind, whose seed is in itself) upon the earth; and it was so." (Genesis 1:11 MKJV)
2. "..God created great sea-animals, and every living soul that creeps with which the waters swarmed after their kind; and every winged fowl after its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters of the seas and let the fowl multiply in the earth." (Genesis 1:21-22 MKJV)
God rested => God was at rest before creation and entered into rest at its completion(Hebrew 4:4). Like every father who has ever built something for their childs enjoyment(1 Timothy 6:17). His pleasure, in His rest, was to be with His children and see them enjoy what He has made for them(Psalm 35:27). God created man to towards the end, to ensure everything was in place for him and to usher man into His rest. This way man would rest in the rest of God, enjoying the fruit of God's labour, while God took pleasure from watching him do so(Hebrews 4:9-11).
