Weakest link PDF Print E-mail

"There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in union with Christ Jesus, has set me free from the law of sin and death. What the Law could not do, because human nature was weak, God did. He condemned sin in human nature by sending his own Son, who came with a nature like our sinful nature, to do away with sin. God did this so that the righteous demands of the Law might be fully satisfied in us who live according to the Spirit, and not according to human nature. Those who live as their human nature tells them to, have their minds controlled by what human nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the Spirit wants. To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace." (Romans 8:1-6 GNB)

================&&&&&====================

Tried for ages, to be good enough

Hoping by good works

I could make the score

Convince God to open salvation s door

His word declared the best of my efforts as filthy rags

I had come up, way short of the mark

I was the weakest link

Stepped down from the stage

Let Him save me instead

================&&&&&====================

Having conceded salvation to Him

I couldn't stand by and let Him sustain me therein

I had to at least, put in my fair share

To justify staying saved

Could do with some leverage, when privileges are required

Then I discovered I was making His grace, of none effect

I was the weakest link

Stepped down from the stage

By grace I was saved, I'll stand by it as well

================&&&&&====================

He gave me a glimpse of my destiny

The many lives He wanted to touch through me

Began to stagger at the sheer scale of it

How can this be, seeing I'm who I am?

More conscious of what I can't do than what I can

Butting His promise from pillar to post

It was becoming clear once again

I was the weakest link

Stepped down from the stage

Let Him do all things through me

================&&&&&====================

He asked me to come to Him and relinquish my cares

Just didn't feel right that I should leave them there

So I tried to make it a 50/50 share

It turned out; all I contributed was worry and fear

Failing to trust Him with all I held dear

I finally realized; the arrangement was flawed

I was the weakest link

Stepped down from the stage

Let the expert do His "thing"

================&&&&&====================

I think I'm beginning to get the point

A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link

In my flesh clearly lies that weakest link

Failure the only thing it can bring

Without the power, Christ in me supplies

I have retired from the arena

Christ the strongest link, in my place

I can now rest in a lifetime guarantee

Destined to win, win and win again in Him
