Give up => We cannot benefit from God's finished work, if we think that we are doing okay by our own efforts. This is nothing but a delusion, as history has proved. We are told not lean on our own understanding(Proverbs 3:5-6), as it is not in man to self direct His own ways(Jeremiah 10:23). We cannot of ourselves, live the Christ life. Hence Christ came to do what we could not and live His life through us(Galatians 2:19-20). This is the rest of which the bible speaks. However God will not make you accept His rest. You have to cease from your own works and submit to His. Since, we never seem to voluntarily give up, we are often forced into submission by situations of life that are beyond our ability to deal with, then we cry help!!
1. "For he who has entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from His." (Hebrews 4:10 MKJV)
2. "But when Jesus heard, He said to them, The ones who are whole do not need a physician, but the ones who are sick. But go and learn what this is, I will have mercy and not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. " (Matthew 9:12-13 MKJV)
3. "..for we have before charged both Jews and Greeks all with being under sin, as it is written: "There is none righteous, no not one; there is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God." (Romans 3:9-11 MKJV)
4. "For I bear record to them that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness for everyone who believes." (Romans 10:2-4 MKJV)
5. "But the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh;" (Romans 8:2-3 MKJV)
6. "After a few days the younger son sold his part of the property and left home with the money. He went to a country far away, where he wasted his money in reckless living. He spent everything he had. Then a severe famine spread over that country, and he was left without a thing. So he went to work for one of the citizens of that country, who sent him out to his farm to take care of the pigs. He wished he could fill himself with the bean pods the pigs ate, but no one gave him anything to eat. At last he came to his senses and said, 'All my father's hired workers have more than they can eat, and here I am about to starve! I will get up and go to my father and say, "Father, I have sinned against God and against you." (Luke 15:13-18 GNB)
7. "..Put on humility. For God resists proud ones, but He gives grace to the humble. Therefore be humbled under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your anxiety onto Him, for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:5-7 MKJV)
8. "But all those things that I might count as profit I now reckon as loss for Christ's sake. Not only those things; I reckon everything as complete loss for the sake of what is so much more valuable, the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have thrown everything away; I consider it all as mere garbage, so that I may gain Christ and be completely united with him. I no longer have a righteousness of my own, the kind that is gained by obeying the Law. I now have the righteousness that is given through faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God and is based on faith." (Philippians 3:7-9 GNB)
"Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16 MKJV)
