Give in to His Love => To submit our lives to God we must have complete confidence in His love. No one will ever love us the way He does. He put His love beyond doubt, over 2000 years ago. We have to choose to believe that He wants what's best for us. That is the foundation of the life of obedience, required to live in His rest.
1. "..love is of God..God is love. In this the love of God was revealed in us, because God sent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation concerning our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another..we have seen and testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world..we have known and believed the love that God has in us. God is love..In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that as He is, so also we are in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment. He who fears has not been perfected in love. We love Him because He first loved us." (1 John 4:7-19 MKJV)
2. "..God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to us. For when we were still helpless, Christ died for the wicked at the time that God chose. It is a difficult thing for someone to die for a righteous person. It may even be that someone might dare to die for a good person. But God has shown us how much he loves us---it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us! By his blood we are now put right with God; how much more, then, will we be saved by him from God's anger! We were God's enemies, but he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Now that we are God's friends, how much more will we be saved by Christ's life! But that is not all; we rejoice because of what God has done through our Lord Jesus Christ, who has now made us God's friends." (Romans 5:5-11 GNB)
3. "I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out--plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for." (Jeremiah 29:11 MSG)
Submission of faith => We can only rest in a finished work. If we were not convinced that what God did was enough, we would continue to try and help Him out. As it was in the beginning, God has made provision for all we need in Christ and invited us into its rest. When we received the spirit of Christ at the new birth, we got everything in one. None of this would profit us, if we don't accept it by faith.
1. "Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, according as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue, through which He has given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, so that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." (2 Peter 1:2-4 MKJV)
2. "For as long, then, as that promise of resting in him pulls us on to God's goal for us, we need to be careful that we're not disqualified. We received the same promises as those people in the wilderness, but the promises didn't do them a bit of good because they didn't receive the promises with faith. If we believe, though, we'll experience that state of resting. But not if we don't have faith.." (Hebrews 4:1-3 MSG)
3. "May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! For in our union with Christ he has blessed us by giving us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly world." (Ephesians 1:2-3 GNB)
4. "My prayer is that our fellowship with you as believers will bring about a deeper understanding of every blessing which we have in our life in union with Christ. " (Philemon 1:6 GNB)
5. "..By his Son, God created the world in the beginning, and it will all belong to the Son at the end. This Son perfectly mirrors God, and is stamped with God's nature.."
(Hebrews 1:2-3 MSG)
The door out of rest was unbelief and faith is the only way back. So let us cease from our own works by faith, as God did from His(Hebrews 4:10 MKJV).
