Journey into Rest - (6) The magnetism of lusts PDF Print E-mail

In part 5 (click here to read it) we discovered that God had my best interest at heart and was responsible for meeting my needs. In contrast the riches of this world portrayed itself as having the same objective but in reality wanted to ensnare and destroy. Lust was the devil's tool to draw me into His trap of deception. Playing on the urgency of my needs. It has been his method of operation right from the start, as seen in his dealings with Adam and Eve, driving them to self-destruct. If you want something bad enough, you will do what it takes to get it. Ultimately these things do not satisfy but to the contrary war against our very own soul.

1. "The woman stared at the fruit. It looked beautiful and tasty. She wanted the wisdom that it would give her, and she ate some of the fruit. Her husband was there with her, so she gave some to him, and he ate it too." (Genesis 3:6 CEV)

2. "Don't love the world's ways. Don't love the world's goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world--wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important--has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out--but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity." (1 John 2:15-17 MSG)

3."Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again. They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves. You lust for what you don't have and are willing to kill to get it. You want what isn't yours and will risk violence to get your hands on it. You wouldn't think of just asking God for it, would you? And why not? Because you know you'd be asking for what you have no right to. You're spoiled children, each wanting your own way. You're cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way." (James 4:1-4 MSG)

4. "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." (2 Peter 1:4 KJV)

5. "Dear friends, you are foreigners and strangers on this earth. So I beg you not to surrender to those desires that fight against you." (1 Peter 2:11 CEV)

The devil loves to promote the philosophy that the end justifies the means. What does it matter as long as I got what I want? Many having followed their lust have and become corrupts and fallen into His web of destruction. I had to learn to live by every word from God's mouth. Living, moving and having my being in Him. When His became my highest desire and to follow His every instruction and admonition my highest priority, the devil completely lost His hold over my life. If Adam and Eve had resorted back to God's instructions they could have dispensed of the devil's deception. Lusts are the devils stronghold to get us away from God's best.

1. "Don't let anyone under pressure to give in to evil say, "God is trying to trip me up." God is impervious to evil, and puts evil in no one's way. The temptation to give in to evil comes from us and only us. We have no one to blame but the leering, seducing flare-up of our own lust. Lust gets pregnant, and has a baby: sin! Sin grows up to adulthood, and becomes a real killer. So, my very dear friends, don't get thrown off course." (James 1:13-16 MSG)

2. "… he gives us the power to live, to move, and to be who we are. "We are his children," just as some of your poets have said.

(Acts 17:28 CEV)

3. "You, LORD, are all I have, and you give me all I need; my future is in your hands. How wonderful are your gifts to me; how good they are! I praise the LORD, because he guides me, and in the night my conscience warns me. I am always aware of the LORD's presence; he is near, and nothing can shake me. And so I am thankful and glad, and I feel completely secure, because you protect me from the power of death. I have served you faithfully, and you will not abandon me to the world of the dead. You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever." (Psalms 16:5-11 GNB)

Shopping list?, ready!

Faith currency?, ready!

It's time to approach and request

All my hearts desire included

No time to chat

Just chuck them in the trolley

And I'll be on my way

I'll see you later

On my next shopping trip

It sure is good

To have a real "Sugar Daddy"

Who meets all my needs

At my smallest whim

I've got a life to live

I'm grateful

You make it happen

By your kind provision

I can't wait till I get to heaven

To see my great mansion

And those wonderful streets of gold

I'm sure I'll be able

To spend time with You then

But for now

My schedule is full

I'm booked to the hilt

I've got ambitions

That requires my attention

Works that expend my energy

All in Your very own name

By the time I'm through

You’re bound to be impressed

With all I have done for you

If I may interrupt your life

My dear one

I sent My son to die for you

So that we could have

Intimate relationship

I long to spend time with you

To be involved in all you do

Always happy to meet your needs

Shame you're missing out the best things

Available in my presence

Is so much joy and pleasure

I'm not only your portion

But your exceedingly great reward as well

All you have in me

The only things that last

As the ultimate lover of your soul

I know what's best for you

Open the door of your busy life

Let go of your cares to me

I'd come in and sup with you

Lets spend time together

Getting to know each other

And have your fill of My love

Once you're addicted

You'll wonder

How you tried to live with out it

Life truly begins

When you're fulfilled in My love

Till the next installment

Every Blessing
