Journey into Rest - (14) Humbly His PDF Print E-mail
Written by Frank Irawo

In part 13 (click here to read it), we looked at the need to renew our minds to the end that we start looking to God to meet our every need. When we establish this truth in our live, we enter His rest with out guilt. Here we will explore this further.

The bible makes it clear contrary to popular belief that it is not our responsibility to provide our needs.

1. "Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! For in our union with Christ he has blessed us by giving us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly world. Even before the world was made, God had already chosen us to be his through our union with Christ, so that we would be holy and without fault before him. Because of his love" (Ephesians 1:3-4 GNB)

Our responsibility is to look to God for inspiration, motivation and direction for our lives. We are to trust Him and follow His directions even if they do not make very much sense to us.

1. "Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes" (Matthew 6:33-34 MSG)

2. "The very steps we take come from GOD; otherwise how would we know where we're going?" (Proverbs 20:24 MSG)

When we trust God with our lives and let His kingdom kingship extend to all areas of our life, He will add whatever we need to us with out stress or burn-out and we will be able to love others with His love and not use them for our ends.

1. "...Everyone who trusts the LORD is like Mount Zion that cannot be shaken and will stand forever. Just as Jerusalem is protected by mountains on every side, the LORD protects his people by holding them in his arms now and forever." (Psalms 125:1-2 CEV)

True humility is recognizing that you cannot meet your own needs and that only God can and then submitting to Him to do it.

1. "LORD, I have given up my pride and turned away from my arrogance. I am not concerned with great matters or with subjects too difficult for me. Instead, I am content and at peace. As a child lies quietly in its mother's arms, so my heart is quiet within me. Israel, trust in the LORD now and forever!" (Psalms 131:1-3 GNB)

2. "You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you." (John 15:16 MKJV)

3. "You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus." (Philippians 4:19 MSG)

4. "This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven: May your holy name be honored; may your Kingdom come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need." (Matthew 6:9-11 GNB)

An account so bountiful

Beyond exhaustion

I have been issued

A "Jesus" charge card

It is very diverse

It covers every need

Just charge it on

Never be without it

In contrast it is manifestation of pride to think that you can meet your own needs without God.

1. A David psalm. God, the one and only-- I'll wait as long as he says. Everything I need comes from him, so why not? He's solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, An impregnable castle: I'm set for life. How long will you gang up on me? How long will you run with the bullies? There's nothing to you, any of you-- rotten floorboards, worm-eaten rafters, Anthills plotting to bring down mountains, far gone in make-believe. You talk a good line, but every "blessing" breathes a curse. God, the one and only-- I'll wait as long as he says. Everything I hope for comes from him, so why not? He's solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, An impregnable castle: I'm set for life. My help and glory are in God --granite-strength and safe-harbor-God-- So trust him absolutely, people; lay your lives on the line for him. God is a safe place to be. Man as such is smoke, woman as such, a mirage. Put them together, they're nothing; two times nothing is nothing. And a windfall, if it comes-- don't make too much of it. God said this once and for all; how many times Have I heard it repeated? "Strength comes Straight from God." Love to you, Lord God! You pay a fair wage for a good day's work! A David psalm, when he was out in the Judean wilderness." (Psalms 62:1-12 MSG)

2. "Humble yourselves, then, under God's mighty hand, so that he will lift you up in his own good time. Leave all your worries with him, because he cares for you."

(1 Peter 5:6-7 GNB)
