"We were God's enemies, but he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Now that we are God's friends, how much more will we be saved by Christ's life!"

(Romans 5:10 GNB)

==================================&&&&&&&=========================================

In part 15 (click here to read it), we explored the legal implication of sharing Christ's identity. Here we take it further to see what becomes ours in Him as a result.

[Text in square brackets are mine]

As we have established, we are one in union with Christ sharing the same legal identity. It therefore follows that what ever He owns; we own and whatever He is due to inherit, we inherit too.

1. "See to it, then, that no one enslaves you by means of the worthless deceit of human wisdom, which comes from the teachings handed down by human beings and from the ruling spirits of the universe, and not from Christ. For the full content of divine nature lives in Christ, in his humanity, and you have been given full life in union with him. He is supreme over every spiritual ruler and authority." (Colossians 2:8-10 GNB)

2. "God's Spirit doesn't make us slaves who are afraid of him. Instead, we become his children and call him our Father. God's Spirit makes us sure that we are his children. His Spirit lets us know that together with Christ we will be given what God has promised [His inheritance]. We will also share in the glory of Christ, because we have suffered with him." (Romans 8:15-17 CEV)

Christ owns all that God has. In union with Him [Jesus], we own it all.

1. [Jesus said about Himself and God] "Everything mine is yours, and yours mine, And my life is on display in them." (John 17:10 MSG)

2. "but in these last days he has spoken to us through his Son. He is the one through whom God created the universe, the one whom God has chosen to possess all things at the end." (Hebrews 1:2 GNB)

3. "For all things were created by him, and all things exist through him and for him. To God be the glory forever! Amen." (Romans 11:36 GNB)

4. "Christ is the visible likeness of the invisible God. He is the first-born Son, superior to all created things. For through him God created everything in heaven and on earth, the seen and the unseen things, including spiritual powers, lords, rulers, and authorities. God created the whole universe through him and for him. Christ existed before all things, and in union with him all things have their proper place. He is the head of his body, the church; he is the source of the body's life. He is the first-born Son, who was raised from death, in order that he alone might have the first place in all things. For it was by God's own decision that the Son has in himself the full nature of God." (Colossians 1:15-19 GNB)

5. "Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's." (1 Corinthians 3:21-23 KJV)

God has provided all things for our enjoyment, it is up to us to walk in the fullness of that revelation and enjoy them at God's pleasure.

1. "And with all his abundant wealth through Christ Jesus, my God will supply all your needs." (Philippians 4:19 GNB)

2. "And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause." (2 Corinthians 9:8 GNB)

3. "We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God's own power, when we learned that he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness. God made great and marvelous promises, so that his nature would become part of us. Then we could escape our evil desires and the corrupt influences of this world." (2 Peter 1:3-4 CEV)

4. "Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment." (1 Timothy 6:17 GNB)

5. "May those who want to see me acquitted shout for joy and say again and again, "How great is the LORD! He is pleased with the success of his servant." (Psalms 35:27 GNB)

So we ought not to be like the elder brother in the parable of the prodigal son that owned everything owned by His father, but He was so busy working like a servant to enjoy them.

1. "But he said to his father, "For years I have worked for you like a slave and have always obeyed you. But you have never even given me a little goat, so that I could give a dinner for my friends. This other son of yours wasted your money on prostitutes. And now that he has come home, you ordered the best calf to be killed for a feast." His father replied, "My son, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours." (Luke 15:29-31 CEV)

"How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He's the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him." (Ephesians 1:3 MSG)

...

Blessed, He is

That is in me

Blessed, I am

One with Him

His Blessedness

Blesses this day

Cause I live in it

With the blessed one

Living in me

Inseparable union

Blessed forever

Selah

...

In part 17 we will continue to explore the implications of our union with Christ.
