This series is dedicated to transforming your perspective on life's inevitable trials, tests and adversities. In the introduction (please click here to read it), we established that such adversities were a fact of life but we have God's assurance that everything we face will workout eventually for our own benefit. More to the point God delights in turning the table on the devil and having the last laugh.

To verify this, we have been going through the bible to highlight examples of God's people who have come through negative circumstances and in hindsight turned out to be better off (Click here to read part 3). The bible assures us that "...God treats all people alike."(Acts 10:34 CEV) and since "Jesus Christ never changes! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8 CEV), it is my prayer that you will take comfort from their experiences and expect the same kind of results. Maybe you might even laugh with Him in anticipation of the expected end.

Enjoy

This time we look at Moses, who was born to a Hebrew mother at a time when they were being treated as slaves in Egypt. In a bid to suppress the population explosion of the Israelites, the Pharaoh commanded that every Hebrew newborn boy be tossed into the Nile. Moses's mother, inspired by God, hatched a cunning plan that resulted in her being paid by Pharaoh's daughter to raise her own son in the ways of the Jews, while having access to the best that Egypt had to offer as an adopted prince. Moses was used of God to set His people free from the tyranny of Pharaoh, but not before Egypt endured ten plagues and the death of their entire first born sons. God then setup a final showdown at the Dead Sea. The best of the Egyptian army led by the Pharaoh himself thought that they had all of Israel caught between them and the sea only for God to close in the waters over them. The very sea that was the route to safety for the Jews was the final resting place of Pharaoh and his army.

In Exodus 1-15 Moses born to a Hebrew slave

Under the threat of certain death

At the hands of the Pharaohs’ people

A profound plan from divine inspiration was hatched

Pharaoh’s daughter adopted Him from the Nile

Pharaoh was to raise the one who would be His final undoing

Paid His Hebrew mother to raise the one He sought to destroy

Sponsored his very own worst recurring nightmare

What great regret He must have had

When Moses came back to demand

The God of Israel, says "let My people go!"

Ten plagues later and the loss of the first-born

He finally did

They left with the spoil of Egypt

Due wages for all the years of sweat

Building the great monuments of Egypt

God certainly got the last laugh then

Caught between the Egyptian army and the red sea

Moses was instructed to use the tools at his disposal

The sea parted to let God's people through

The devils must have thought, "I've got them now"

The Egyptians jumped in, in hot pursuit

Guess who got the laughs

When the sea came closing in
