Greetings from sweltering Säo Paulo where as Noel Coward might say only “Mad Dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun”. We arrived in Brazil last week and have been conducting a series of meetings with what is a growing number of people that long to know the simplicity of the gospel, the true gospel of Jesus Christ, the gospel of his unconditional love and acceptance. Some of the talks from the meetings are being posted on the website under the heading “The Latin Quarter” I hope you’ll enjoy them.
The official launch of O Aprendiz (The Apprentice) will be held on Monday 25th February at the Saraiva Megastore Morumbi shopping. Saraiva is the Brazilian equivalent of Waterstones and so it is a very prestigious event it is a real privilege to be a part of it. Jorge Carmargo who is a dear friend and a musician of genuine renown and now author of Samos Um will be launching our books together as we share not only a friendship but the same publishing house.
It takes me a while to get into the Latin groove, things move a little slower around here. The London vibe is not the same as the Säo Paulo rhythm, we like life to move as a little more “rappido” as they say here whilst the locals are a bit more tranquilo.
The upside is that Hayley and I have been able to get some rest. and yesterday spent the day with our friends Duda & Selina. Our meetings begin in earnest tomorrow when we speak at a pastor’s breakfast, before going into a series of church meetings here in SP and in Santos. We’d welcome your prayers and if you are so led please pray “that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel.” Eph 6:19 We look forward to be back with you on Sunday 2nd March - agape Paul
